DUSTY STRINGS HAMMER DULCIMERS

Dusty Strings makes the 30, 40, 300, 500, & 600 series models designed by Sam Rizzetta. Sam also continues to work with Dusty Strings owners Sue and Ray Mooers to make the newest research available for all Dusty Strings dulcimers. Each model provides a high quality dulcimer in its price range. They are designed to sound and look great, be easy to tune and play, hold tuning well, and be durable and trouble free. Five year warranty. The DS prefix indicates Dusty Strings products.

PD models are Piano Dulcimers invented by Sam Rizzetta. Chromatic with a half-step interval across the bridge instead of the diatonic scales of 5th interval dulcimers. Notes are marked black & white like the piano keyboard. Piano dulcimers are easy to understand, and they play in all keys! Other models are traditional 5th interval dulcimers, which are easy to play for diatonic folk music.

RIZZETTA HAMMER DULCIMERS

Dulcimers designed by Sam Rizzetta. For the time being Sam is building experimental instruments only. Therefore, the regular Rizzetta models listed here are currently available only from Nicholas Blanton. Contact Nicholas for details and current prices; Nicholas Blanton Instruments. From time to time Sam will have one-of-a-kind experimental and used dulcimers available, and they will be listed here at the bottom of the page.

These instruments are the results of Sam’s 40+ years of experience and ongoing research and experiments. Options for Rizzetta dulcimers now include: “tuned braces” for enhanced tone and power, resin-sealed interior and soundboard for best tuning stability, and carbon fiber back for lighter weight, greater strength, and enhanced tonal clarity, power, and musicality. Check with Nicholas Blanton for current backlog on these dulcimers. Recent waiting time has run about one year.

USED DULCIMERS:

Vintage 1985 Augusta Grande. 16-15; designed by Rizzetta; redwood soundboard; these are prized among some players for their combination of tone, range, and simplicity; maple leaf soundhole rosette; with used case and bronze leg mounts to hold TriStander legs. It has some scratches and dents but also has that vintage tone that only comes from years of aging and playing. Price reduced; $950.
